These are only a few of the many resources available online that offer information for or about families and friends of murder victims, police abuse/misconduct, suicide, and general support for victims of crime. For a more extensive listing, we suggest you try www.google.com, one of the best internet search engines, or www.refdesk.com, one of the best reference sites.

Unsolved Crimes

The Unsolved Crimes Network
The Unsolved Crimes Network is dedicated to providing information on unsolved crimes to the general public. Such information may assist in the apprehension of individuals wanted in connection with these crimes, or provide tips that can be used to assist in a solution. We began in New Mexico and focused on New Mexico cases for the first year. With a high rate of success, we have now expanded and are accepting cases nationwide. We do not list information on each crime featured. Instead, we provide a link to sites that provide this information. In some cases we have constructed pages on crimes we are actively investigating on our own site.
The original concept of the network has changed and we are in the process of becoming a non-profit organization that will provide investigative services in all 50 U.S. states. While we have never charged for any service, we now find the need to be a recognized non-profit organization due to the large number of cases we are handling.

Real Crimes.com
Lois Duncan, author of numerous fictional suspense novels, including I Know What You Did Last Summer, is also the mother of a murdered teenager, Kaitlyn Arquette, and the author of Who Killed My Daughter?, the true account of the police cover-up of Kait's homicide. After WKMD was published, she was contacted by so many other parents of murdered children, whose cases were covered up by corrupt police departments, that she and her husband established the Real Crimes web site as a resource for the media, to help keep those controversial cases from becoming buried.   All the allegations in the case reports are linked to documentation -- police reports, transcripts of depositions, crime scene photos, autopsy reports, etc.  http://www.realcrimes.com

Yellow Ribbon Program for the Prevention of Teen Suicide
The Yellow Ribbon Program is based on the premise that suicide is not about death, but rather about ending pain and that it's OK to ask for help. Yellow Ribbon cards are distributed and carried as a simple, effective tool to use to ask for help when feelings of suicide arise. The card has proven to be a lifeline because it is a reminder to young people that they have permission to ask for help, it helps them talk when they may not have the words and it tells the recipient of the card how to help the suicidal person.

GROWW
Grief Recovery ONLINE for ALL Bereaved

What is GROWW? It's a place where peer groups in an online chatroom environment teaches that you have "permission to grieve". A place where you learn that the emotions you can't understand are seen in a "mirror image" of someone describing exactly what you are going through, and you say to yourself, "that's ME they are describing". So you learn you are not crazy - that the thoughts of the death that consumes you from the moment you wake from sleep that finally comes after endless waking hours, till night falls and the struggle for sleep comes again. It's a place where you find that every word you heard and could not believe yourself, suddenly are spoken to someone you see that is in pain and you realize, "that's ME talking" ....now it becomes a place where you have learned that by receiving the support and understanding that helped you get through the pain (of losing a loved one) you are now helping someone who is where you have been. It's a place where you CAN recover from the overwhelming pain of grief. It’s a place of belonging.

Youth Violence and Injury Prevention
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) work on injury prevention and control began in the early 1970s. In 1983, CDC added violence related (intentional) injuries to its list of public health priorities and has since established the Youth Violence and Suicide Prevention Team within the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control to study causes of interpersonal youth violence and suicide. The mission of the Youth Violence and Suicide Prevention Team is to promote implementation of efforts to prevent injuries resulting from assaultive and suicidal behavior through development and dissemination of science-based knowledge, intervention, and prevention strategies, working with public and private organizations.
